This Privacy Policy explains what information Affiliate Mechanic, doing business as DuetCut ("DuetCut", "we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. For data you provide to us through the Service, Affiliate Mechanic acts as the data controller. We aim to collect the minimum we need to operate the Service.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: name, email address, and authentication identifiers when you sign up or log in.
- Your content: the video clips and project metadata you upload or create. Stored only to render and deliver your projects to you.
- Billing information: processed by our merchant of record, Paddle. We receive transaction metadata (e.g., subscription status, country, last 4 of card) but never the full card number.
- Usage data: pages viewed, features used, render counts, and error logs. Used to improve reliability and performance.
2. How we use it
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To process payments and manage subscriptions.
- To communicate with you about your account, support requests, and important changes.
- To detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, fraud, or security incidents.
- To comply with legal obligations.
2a. Legal bases (GDPR / UK GDPR)
- Performance of a contract — to create your account, provide the Service, and process your purchases.
- Legitimate interests — to secure the Service, prevent abuse and fraud, analyse usage to improve features, and run essential operational communications.
- Legal obligation — to keep tax, accounting, and other records required by law.
- Consent — for optional marketing emails and non-essential cookies, where applicable. You can withdraw consent at any time.
3. Sharing
We share information only with:
- Service providers that help us run DuetCut (cloud hosting, video rendering infrastructure, email delivery, analytics, customer support).
- Paddle, our payment processor and merchant of record, to handle billing, taxes, and refunds.
- Authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and property.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Data retention
We keep your account data while your account is active. Uploaded source clips and renders are retained until you delete them or close your account. Billing records are retained as required by law (typically 7 years).
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@duetcut.com.
6. International transfers
DuetCut and our service providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and routine security reviews. No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to keep yours safe.
8. Children
DuetCut is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
